North America’s First Online Dressage Competition!

by admin on January 25, 2010

With winter upon us, traveling to those competitions can become risky (for us northeners).  Save the gas, save the stress, catch up on your sleep while still gaining a competitive edge before show season.  This will be a test site while we work out the bugs.  We hope you will offer lots of feedback to help us shape this new venue to meet your expectations.  Now for some guidelines:

  1. Videotape your dressage test or freestyle and upload it to YouTube.  If need help uploading, just mail it to us and we will do that for you.
    1. Record your test at the place you would expect the Judge (at C facing A)
    2. Try to move the camera as little as possible.  No zooming, just move left or right to keep horse and rider in view.  Use a tripod or stand if possible.
    3. Mark your arena with coloured cones or objects, letters are not necessary.
    4. If you will be outdoors, be sure the sun is not in view.
    5. Set your camera to a High Quality setting.
  2. Send us your details.  Username (Name you would like to appear on the Internet), Name, Contact, Info about your horse.  Send as much or as little info as you would like, but please specify which info you want to make public and which is private.
  3. Keep your test between 3 to 5 mins in length.

Is this event open to U.S. equestrians – as well as Canadian?

That is a great idea! Let’s make it North America.

I am part of another club that does Vshows… IPHDA.com. They mainly try to gain western performance horses.
From experience, I would recommend allowing a little bit of zooming. I know you guys are new, and you’ll work out the bugs. Hopefully, this comment will be helpful in the future. Good luck, folks.
